We are pleased to invite you to a free open Cafe Scientifique Maurice event featuring Dr Hazel Sive, Professor in Biology at MIT

Prof Sive will talk about how tiny cellular building blocks organise the embryo, referencing her research work on face formation, and will explore how stem cells repair our bodies as adults. Are stem cells the key to overcoming disease ? Is stem cell tourism a good business strategy or unethical ? 

Prof Sive’s research focuses on neurodevelopmental and mental health disorders, as well as fundamental processes underlying brain and craniofacial development. 

Prof Sive also focuses on education and training. She is former Associate Dean of Science with oversight for diversity and education. 

Prof Sive is Founding Coordinator of the MIT-AFRICA Initiative. She is committed to communicating to the powerful contributions that scientific research makes to human health and society.
